VirTis General Purpose Freeze Dryer (GPFD)
The VirTis General Purpose Freeze Dryer (GPFD) is a versatile freeze-drying system designed for specialised applications where conventional drying methods may damage sensitive materials. The system is particularly well suited for restoration, preservation and research applications where the structure, shape and properties of the material must be maintained throughout the drying process.
The GPFD can be used for drying archaeological artefacts, restoring water- and moisture-damaged books and documents, and preparing biological specimens, plants and animals for museum and research purposes. It is also suitable for agricultural applications such as the drying and preservation of seeds.
Its spacious chamber allows large and bulky objects to be processed efficiently. The system also offers defrosting during operation, allowing ice to be removed from the condenser without interrupting the drying cycle.
Transparent acrylic doors provide full visibility of the chamber, making it easy to monitor samples throughout the freeze-drying process. The smooth condenser design simplifies cleaning and defrosting while helping to minimise the risk of ice blockage.
