TV4000AKV EASY – Automated Kinematic Viscosity Measurement
The Tamson TV4000AKV EASY is a new-generation modular measuring system developed to replace the previous TV2000AKV model. The system is designed to provide accurate, reproducible and automated measurements of kinematic viscosity.
The TV4000AKV EASY is supplied with one automated measuring channel and includes everything required for precise viscosity measurements. With this model, filling and cleaning of the viscometer are performed manually, while measurement and system operation are conveniently controlled through a user-friendly touchscreen.
The instrument is suitable for samples that can be analysed using Ubbelohde viscometers, including:
Formulated oils
Lubricants
Diesel
Hydraulic oils
Additives
Base oils
Light fuels
Waxes
Crude oils
Glycols
The system can be programmed for up to eight different viscometers, and its database can store up to 254 measurement results, which can be printed when required.
Each analysis can include up to 99 sequential runs without operator intervention. The interval between measurements can be programmed for up to four hours, allowing changes in viscosity over time to be monitored.
The TV4000AKV EASY determines the best repeatability from the measurement series and also supports calculations of:
Dynamic viscosity
Relative viscosity
Intrinsic viscosity
The system can also be configured with two measuring channels for dual-channel operation. Tamson also plans a version with a semi-automated cleaning module, in which the viscometer is automatically rinsed using manually supplied cleaning fluid.
CEC L-48-00(B) – Oxidation Testing for Modern Lubricants
The global transition towards electric vehicles (EVs) is changing the performance requirements placed on lubricants. Electric vehicle drivetrains differ from conventional internal combustion engines through fewer moving components, different materials and different operating conditions. As a result, new demands are also being placed on lubricant performance.
To address these developments, SAE J3200™ has introduced new guidelines in which the CEC L-48-00 oxidation test plays an important role.
CEC L-48-00 is used to evaluate a lubricant’s resistance to oxidation at elevated temperatures and its ability to resist oil degradation and sludge formation.
During the test, the lubricant is heated and aerated under controlled conditions. Samples are subsequently evaluated using:
Kinematic viscosity
FTIR analysis (Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy)
By comparing fresh and aged oil, changes in viscosity and oxidation can be determined. The smaller the change, the better the lubricant’s resistance to degradation.
The Tamson CEC L-48-00(B) is a robust, well-insulated six-position bath specifically developed for this test method.
The system is supplied complete with:
Six sets of glassware
Stands and clamps for correct positioning
Six calibrated flow meters
Tubing and associated components
