Sonochemistry – Enhance Reactions with Ultrasound
Ultrasound plays a transformative role in chemistry by significantly boosting both stoichiometric and catalytic reactions—sometimes by as much as a million-fold. This is made possible through acoustic cavitation, where microscopic bubbles in liquid collapse violently, creating localized zones with temperatures of up to 5000 °C and pressures near 500 atmospheres. These extreme conditions produce highly reactive free radicals that can dramatically accelerate chemical reactions.

Applications span both homogeneous liquid systems and heterogeneous mixtures. The equipment is suitable for both research and process development.
